Crazy for Covergirl

We stopped by Walmart the other day, and I checked out the makeup that they had.  I found that most of the products are much cheaper than in the Philippines.  I went a little crazy at first and filled my basket with all sorts of goodies.  But in the end, I decided I didn't need so much makeup and put some stuff back.  This was what I was left with in the end:

If you'll notice, they're all Covergirl products.  I'm not really picky about makeup brands, I'm always willing to try something new.  I don't know why I ended up getting just one brand of makeup.  I've probably been watching too much ANTM.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my thoughts on each of these products and how they've been working out for me.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big expert on makeup or anything.  I only started learning how to apply makeup this year.  I don't own that much make up either, and most of what I own aren't well known brands.  I didn't want to practice using expensive branded products, so I've been sticking to cheaper products.  But I think its about time I upgraded.

Trublend concealer

This was the first one I opened.  I've been having problems with pimples lately, and they've been leaving a lot of scars, so I needed a good concealer.  I must say this does the job quite well.  I don't really have much basis for comparison since the only other concealer I've used is Ever Bilena's makeup stick (which was actually pretty okay, especially if you consider the price).  Anyway, this Trublend concealer covers up my blemishes and dark spots pretty nicely, and it blends easily too.  I'm quite happy with it.

Outlast eyeliner

The next product I opened.  I've been looking for a good smudge-proof eyeliner for a while now.

When I first started experimenting with makeup I used Ever Bilena's eyeliner.  I actually love how pigmented it is, but it smudges so easily!  I end up looking like a zombie after just an hour of putting it on.  I then switched to Avon.  It doesn't smudge as much as Ever Bilena, but it still doesn't do the job for me.  Plus, it's not as pigmented as I would like, so I have to put more on just to get the same effect.

Now this one, I'm really happy about.  I won't say that it doesn't smudge, but it smudges A LOT LESS than the other two products I've tried.  I'll probably be sticking to this eyeliner for a while, unless someone can recommend a better drugstore eyeliner.

Outlast Smoothwear All-day lipcolor

This is pretty similar to the lipstick my mom uses (Max Factor's Lipfinity).  The product comes with two tubes : the lipcolor itself, and this lip-balm sort of thing.  You apply the lipcolor with a sponge tip applicator, and wait for it to dry.  Then you apply the lip balm over it, which I suppose seals the color in so it lasts all day.

I was really excited to try this product because I've always had a problem with lipsticks.  They never stay for more than an hour on my lips.  I end up eating it or wiping it off.  But this product lasted ALL DAY.  Seriously.  I had to use my mom's makeup remover to wipe it off before I went to bed that night.  I'm definitely happy with this.

The only think I didn't really like is the color I chose.  Its much darker than what I'm used to.  The shade is called "raisin satin".  It's a dark reddish-purplish-brownish color.  But it actually is very wearable during this winter season, I really how it looks on me.  But when I go back to the Philippines, I probably won't be able to use it :(  I bought a lighter shade the next day and decided to mix them together to see how that would look, but I wasn't happy with the results either.

(Btw, the smaller box in the picture is an extra lip-balm thingy that I bought.  Based on my mom's experience, the lip balm runs out faster than the lip color, so getting an extra one is a good idea)

Smoky Shadowblast

This was the product I was most excited about, but it turned out to be a big disappointment.  It's an eyeshadow duo that comes in a stick.  You apply the lighter shadow first on your lids and browbone, then you use the darker shade to line your upper lashline and crease.  I was hoping for a nice smokey eye effect, but I couldn't get it right!  I guess I'm not using the product properly.  I've had better luck with regular eyeshadows.  Also, this product fades really quickly~  And creases easily.  So far its the only purchase I'm not happy about.

LastBlast Luxe

This is the only product I haven't opened yet.  But I've heard good stuff about this product, so I'm pretty confident I'll end up liking it.  I don't want to open it yet since I haven't finished my Avon mascara (which I love), since it might dry up.

Overall I'm pretty happy with my haul.  I promised myself I wouldn't buy anymore makeup while I'm here since this is a lot already (for me), but I probably will be breaking that promise XD

Here's a quick snapshot of me wearing all the products I mentioned above (except for the mascara)
